Zopa’s New AI Tool Turns Everyday Banking Into a Chat

Zopa has launched an AI banking assistant called Ask Zopa. It is available to Biscuit current account customers.

The assistant lets people manage their money by simply asking. There is no need to search through a traditional app menu.

Ask Zopa can complete several tasks at once, rather than just answering questions.

Customers can send money, settle bills and split a restaurant tab. They can do this by voice, by chat, or by photographing a receipt.

The assistant covers three areas. It can handle payments, such as requesting money, splitting a bill from a receipt photo, or paying an invoice from an uploaded image.

It also handles everyday banking. This includes checking balances, managing cards, viewing statements and updating account details.

It can help with planning too. Customers can set savings goals, build budgets and get alerts when spending nears a set limit.

“Ask Zopa redefines the role of a bank in our customers’ lives, from simplifying day to day tasks and money management to actively helping people plan, save and make smarter decisions in real time,”

said Clare Gambardella, Chief Customer Officer at Zopa Bank.

The bank has made two new board appointments.

Bruce Fletcher joins as an independent non-executive director. He previously served as Group Chief Risk Officer at NatWest.

Dr Paula Walter also joins the board. She was previously Group Chief Technology and Information Officer at Aldermore.
