Deutsche Bank Taps Thought Machine for Core Banking Overhaul

Deutsche Bank has tapped Thought Machine to modernise the core systems supporting its German retail banking business.

Under a global licensing agreement, the bank will use Thought Machine’s cloud-native Vault Core platform as the foundation of its retail modernisation strategy.

Vault Core separates product logic from the underlying cloud infrastructure, allowing Deutsche Bank to develop and deploy products faster while integrating artificial intelligence capabilities.

Development is already underway, with testing planned towards the end of 2026.

The existing and new systems will then run in parallel before products begin moving to the platform in stages from 2027.

The phased rollout in Germany is intended to minimise disruption and maintain service continuity during the transition.

said Paul Taylor, CEO and Founder of Thought Machine.

Thought Machine now counts 20 global tier-one banks among its clients.
