Europe’s Top Insurtech Startups of 2026

CB Insights has released its annual selection of the world’s 50 most promising private startups in insurtech. Among this year’s winners, ten firms are based in Europe, covering health and benefits, operational platforms, actuarial platforms, and more.

The 2026 Insurtech 50 winners, unveiled in September 2026, were selected in partnership with ITC Vegas using deal activity, industry partnerships, investor strength, hiring momentum, revenue, commercial traction, and CB Insights’ predictive success measure known as the Mosaic Score. Now in its fifth year, the list draws from thousands of applicants and nominees.

This year’s selection reflects the next generation of insurtech startups where leaders are increasingly specialists rather than generalists in their domains, and are leveraging cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, and 3D reconstruction to address some of the industry’s biggest challenges.

These companies have raised a combined US$3 billion in equity funding, including about US$800 million in 2026 to date, employ over 5,400 people with a median headcount of 52 across the cohort, and have disclosed more than 70 partnerships since 2025. At the same time, 31 of the 50 are early-stage startups, including 14 at the seed stage. This reflects their scale and momentum, yet also their early phase.

Several trends are standing out in the 2026 Insurtech 50 cohort. First, AI is relevant for all of these winners, helping them build a clear advantage. Examples include Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company, which develops a standard for AI agents and raised a US$40M Series A round in September 2026; Delos, an AI-driven property insurance company that uses geospatial modeling and satellite data to write home insurance policies in high-risk wildfire areas; and Waniwani, an infrastructure provider helping insurers maximize their revenue on AI channels while remaining compliant.

Another key trend this year is that most of the 2026 Insurtech 50 winners offer distinct and differentiated product offerings within the marketplace. For example, Clearspeed provides automated, voice-based risk assessment technology that detects fraud and clears low-risk claims or applications in seconds; Odin Space uses proprietary Nano Sensors to detect and verify untrackable, sub-centimeter orbital debris impacts; and Summit is a tech-enabled brokerage specifically for Canadian businesses.

Of the 2026 Insurtech 50 winners, the following nine are headquartered in Europe:
