Top 7 Most Innovative Swiss Fintechs, Bilanz Ranking 2027

BILANZ and Statista have recognised seven Swiss fintech companies in their 2027 ranking of the country’s most innovative SMU’s. Covering 45 companies across multiple industries, the ranking includes businesses of different sizes and ownership structures.

Innovation is assessed across three areas: process innovation, product innovation and innovation culture.

Expert and employee evaluations are combined with objective criteria, including patent data. More than 4,000 people participated in the assessment, generating around 18,500 evaluations.

The top innovative Swiss fintechs represented in the ranking span digital banking, wealth management, Bitcoin and digital asset investment.

Top 7 Most Innovative Swiss Fintechs, Bilanz Ranking

Here is a look at the seven companies included in the ranking.

1. Neon

Fintech Ranking: 1st

Overall Ranking: 13th

Neon is a Swiss digital banking app offering everyday banking services through a mobile platform.

Describing itself as an independent Swiss account app, the company works with Swiss banking partners to provide account and payment services. Its offering has also expanded to include investment features.

2. Relai

Fintech Ranking: 2nd

Overall Ranking: 17th

Relai is a Swiss Bitcoin investment app focused on making Bitcoin purchases accessible to retail users. Through its app, users can buy and sell Bitcoin using a self-custodial model, meaning Relai does not hold users’ funds in custody.

Relai recently raised US$2.5 million at a valuation of US$90 million.

3. Yapeal

Fintech Ranking: 3rd

Overall Ranking: 21st

Initially focused on digital banking for private customers, Yapeal later shifted towards business-to-business services and embedded finance.

It received a FINMA fintech license in 2020 and now provides financial infrastructure and services that businesses can integrate into their own products and customer experiences.

4. Yuh

Fintech Ranking: 4th

Overall Ranking: 25th

Launched in 2021 as a joint venture between Swissquote and PostFinance, Yuh combines payments, savings and investing in a single app. Its offering includes a multi-currency account, payments and investment products such as shares, ETFs, fractional shares and digital assets.

Swissquote acquired PostFinance’s stake in 2025, making Yuh part of the Swissquote Group.

5. Alpian

Fintech Ranking: 5th

Overall Ranking: 29th

REYL Intesa Sanpaolo developed Alpian through its incubator, and Alpian incorporated in 2019 before receiving a FINMA banking license in 2022.

It subsequently launched as Switzerland’s first digital private bank, combining everyday banking with digital wealth management and access to financial advisors.

6. SwissBorg

Fintech Ranking: 6th

Overall Ranking: 30th

SwissBorg operates a digital asset wealth management platform offering cryptocurrency investment and portfolio management services. Its Smart Engine connects to multiple exchanges to source prices for users’ trades, while the platform also provides features for managing and earning returns on digital assets.

7. 21Shares

Fintech Ranking: 7th

Overall Ranking: 42nd

21Shares develops and issues exchange-traded products linked to cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.

Founded in 2018, the company launched its HODL product on the SIX Swiss Exchange later that year. Its products give investors access to digital assets through regulated investment structures.

In October 2025, FalconX agreed to acquire 21Shares in a deal that brought the Swiss digital asset investment firm under the US-based crypto infrastructure provider.

Together, the seven companies represent different parts of Switzerland’s fintech ecosystem, spanning digital banking, wealth management, cryptocurrency and embedded finance.
